Climate finance is not optional for the Caribbean’s education sector. It is essential. Increasing climate threats demand urgent investment in safe learning spaces, digital infrastructure and disaster preparedness.
We have seen the value of working across the Pacific region, sharing lessons, and building our capacity. I now look forward to working through the Climate Smart Education System Initiative to scale up those successes.
Children’s perspectives on climate action must be included. We are creative in finding solutions to the climate crisis. As we are the most affected by climate shocks, we must be involved in decision-making.
Education is both a victim of and a solution to the climate crisis. It empowers learners to protect their communities and environment. We aim to build climate-smart systems that are not only adaptive but transformative.
